MISSOULA – A local Boy Scout troop spent Saturday at the Missoula International Airport learning about the field of aviation.

“The opportunities that Boy Scouts have for the youth in our community its truly taking them to new heights. Merit badges pursue all types of careers and open all kinds of opportunities to youth,” explained Troop 1919 Commissioner Misti Krause.

The girls and boys who make up the troop spent the day learning about many of the potential jobs including what it’s like to be a tower operator.

“Boy Scouts just allowed girls into the program on Feb. 1. Many of these young ladies have watched their brothers grow up in scouting and have Eagle Scout brothers and are now able to follow in their footsteps and have those same opportunities. So it’s pretty exciting times,” says Krause.

They will now produce a project to show all that they learned in order to earn their badges.
