HELENA – Last month we introduced you toHelena high’s mock trial team as they were preparing for the state competition in Idaho.
On Wednesday, after a successful 8th and 9th place finishes and seven individual awards, the team visited Montana’s top court for a Hometown Recognition Ceremony.
Some of the state’s Supreme Court justices were on hand to award the students with certificates and personally thank them for representing the Treasure State in the mock trial competition.
“It’s really cool because mock trial only started a few years ago and we’re a fairly small club,” said Helena High’s mock trial president Grace Johnson. “We’re the only club in Montana and so, having this kind of recognition is really cool for us.”
“I think that we depend on our future generations to understand that critical component of our justice system which is what makes our country a model for all the world,” added Montana supreme court justice Beth Baker.
The club just wrapped up their season, but if you are wanting to learn more as they hopefully continue to grow please contact the attorney coaches can be reached at David Morine dmorine@hwlawmt.com, and Kayleigh Morine kmorine@crowleyfleck.com, or faculty coach Kacey Askin at kaskin@helenaschools.org.
