Controlled burn on Mount Helena this week

HELENA – People in Helena may have noticed smoke on Mount Helena on Tuesday, April 9 coming from from a controlled burn.

Tuesday’s burn took place on the northeast slope of the city park between the Powerline and 1906 trails.

The City of Helena Parks department will be performing prescribed burn operations this week as a part of forest management on Mount Helena.

According to the City of Helena Dispatch Center, the operations will be producing a large column of smoke and people are asked not to call the dispatch center to report the smoke.
