BILLINGS – After winning the One School at a Time grant last year for an inclusive playground, Rose Park Elementary School’s PTA is trying a new fund-raising technique- goats.

Eleven businesses were visited recently by these unlikely guests, with the idea of raising money to ensure a poured rubber surface under the playground.

“Thanks to a local petting zoo, Maverick’s Mini Ark, who lent us their goats today, we’re doing a fundraiser for Every Child Plays exclusive playground project. We are taking these little goats… around to business that were nominated via our Facebook page. And businesses can either pay $20 to send us and the goats away or pay $50 to send us somewhere else”, Rose Park PTA President Tiffany Marshall said.

The PTA has raised more than $252,000 since winning the One School at a Time grant, and they’re hoping the goats will help bring the final $50,000.

The group expects to break ground and begin installation in May or early June. For information on how to donate, or how to nominate a business for a goat visit in Mid-April, visit the Every Child Plays Facebook page.
