HELENA – The Montana History Foundation recently announced the recipients of its 2019 grants.
Across Montana, the foundation gave more than $134,000 to 33 projects in 29 communities.
Among the grant recipients is Grandstreet Theatre.
They’re getting just under $5,000 for stonework and window restoration.
There are some areas of sandstone on the building that are cracking, and several window casings deteriorating.
Managing Director Kal Poole says they’ll even be able to repair a window that was broken by a chunk of ice this winter.
“This is a beautiful old building, she was built in 1901. Like everything that’s that old, it takes a little wear and tear along the edges,” says Poole. “So we’re doing our best to preserve and protect the stonework, some of the windows and the history that’s involved, so that it’ll last another hundred years.”
Grandstreet Theatre held its first annual gala over the weekend and announced its 2019-2020 season.
