CCSO issues flood warning; Highway 87 closed between Great Falls and Fort Benton

The Cascade County Sheriff’s Office has issued a flood warning due to several roads being washed out.

Highway 87 from Great Falls to Fort Benton between mile markers 12 and 13 is shut down. Traffic is being rerouted.

Drivers will have to find an alternate route.

The affected roads include:

  • 6th Street Northwest at Watson Coulee Road
  • Stuckey Road and Watson Coulee Road
  • Black Horse Lake Road and Highway 87
  • Portage Road and Highway 87
  • Dent Bridge Road and Highway 87

The Public Works Department and rural fire departments are at numerous scenes assessing the situations.

Montana’s central, eastern and northeastern regions are among the hardest hit areas for flooding.

River gauges are reporting floods along parts of Frenchman Creek, the Milk River, the Poplar River, the Missouri River, and the Little Bighorn River.

Areal Flood Advisories remain in effect and flooding is expected to be a problem into Tuesday.

Several county roads are also impacted by flooding including Stuckey Road.
