Latest: Authorities investigating suspicious East Helena death

UPDATE, 7:45 p.m.: Lewis and Clark County Undersheriff Jason Grimmis said Thursday that authorities have found no evidence of a violent attack, as they investigate the death of an adult man at a residence in East Helena.

“Evidence leads us towards a non-criminal cause at this point,” he said.

Grimmis said it’s not clear yet what the man’s cause or manner of death were. An autopsy will be required to make that final determination.

EAST HELENA- Investigators have placed police tape around a residence in East Helena.

East Helena Police and Lewis and Clark Co. Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to 600 block E. Lewis just after 9:30 Thursday morning.

Officers could be seen in the area throughout the morning and early afternoon and the coroner’s division was on the scene.

East Helena School District 9 posted an update to parents on its Facebook page around 2:15 p.m asking parents to avoid Lewis St. between Prickly Pear Elementary and East Valley Middle School after students were dismissed.

According to the post, law enforcement says there is no danger.

Investigators haven’t released any specific details on the incident. We have a reporter on scene and will update you when we know more.
