BUTTE – A Butte policeman and an EMS worker were honored this afternoon for saving a man’s life last October while they were out of state and off duty.
Butte Undersheriff George Skuletich and EMS responder Marc McGree were issued Copper Heart hero awards for their actions on Oct. 6th during a wedding party in Spokane, when a Bozeman man at the party suddenly went into cardiac arrest.
The two performed CPR on the victim and kept control of the scene until the ambulance arrived.
The man they saved personally thanked them at the emotional ceremony Monday and said he is grateful for first responders like these two men.
“People that know that stuff are absolutely magical, they are a gift from God and I can never be more blessed than what happened to me, because it’s changed my life. It made me realize that the big issues aren’t big at all,” said the victim Jim Paffhausen.
