BILLINGS- A man suspected of shooting and killing his friend on Billings West End while high on hallucinogenic mushrooms was arraigned in Yellowstone County District Court Friday and booked into jail.

William Kenney

Prosecutors said 30-year-old William Kenney shot and killed his 25-year-old friend, identified in court documents as “J.S.,” before turning an AR-15 on himself on the night of Nov. 21 at a home on Canyon Drive in Billings.

In court documents, Kenney told police the two men got high on mushrooms and that things got “kinda crazy.” The shooting happened when both men thought they were dying so Kenney shot his friend and then himself.

Kenney’s father found the two men in the basement of his home the next morning and called the police.

Kenney was taken into custody after appearing in court Friday, his bail was set at $50,000.
