KALISPELL – Flathead Lake Brewing Co. is celebrating its 15th anniversary this month, and will mark the occasion by sharing a new brew with customers.

This batch is made from local Flathead cherries that are harvested just down the street in Yellow Bay.

The company says this is another example of their dedication to sustainability and using locally-sourced products.

The majority of their building is made of logs and trees pulled from streams near by, while the roof has solar collectors that harvest the energy from the sun that the kitchen uses for its water.

For the past few years, every beer has been canned in-house, because aluminum is 100 percent recyclable.

They are also planning a huge expansion that will be completed this summer, with more seating and an area for live music.

David Brendgard tells us this expansion is specifically planned to bring the community together.

“We consider ourselves one of the hubs for the community. This bar, everything happens in here,” Brendgard said. “We get a lot of people coming in here to talk about their day, the weather sometimes politics. So, it’s how a pub should be, a gathering place for your community.”

After the renovations are complete, Brendgard says they will be able to host more events and larger groups in their new space.
