GREAT FALLS – As Great Falls Public Schools gets ready to demolish Longfellow Elementary School, they are taking the last few months to celebrate the history which dates back to the fall of 1951.

“60 Years of 6th Grade” brought current students in 6th grade, and those from the 6th grade class of 1959, together.

These kids today were quite a sophisticated bunch and very interesting. “I learned a lot from them today and hopefully they learned a few things from me,” 1959 Longfellow 6th grader Julie Duncan said.

Students interviewed the guests and some of the main questions were transportation, style, technology and recess games.

“If I could say anything to my sixth grade self I would say that there are really some unusual things up ahead. Like computers and IPhones. We had nothing of the sort,” Duncan said.

Longfellow Elementary will be demolished in March and will be rebuilt and ready for new students come august 2020.

Students are currently being bused to Roosevelt Elementary for the school year.
