BOZEMAN – National School Choice Week is being celebrated across the country January 20-26.

The goal of the week is to raise awareness about the various K-12 education options for students.

Here in Montana, we have traditional public schools, charter schools, private schools, magnet schools, online learning, and homeschooling.

Petra Academy in Bozeman is celebrating this week and believes being able to choose and have various options for education is important.

A sophomore at Petra Academy, Ava Bentz said, “well to me it means being able to choose the best education for you.”

“There’s no perfect school, no school can meet all the needs of every child or every family and so for us, I think it draws attention a little bit that while Petra is not for everyone neither is any other school because everybody and kids are so different and kids need different things,” Headmaster of Petra Academy Craig Dunham said.

Throughout the week, students are wearing yellow fleece scarves to support options in education.
