HELENA – The Lewis and Clark Library will waive fees for all patrons during the government shutdown.
Library’s Director John Finn stated in a news release, “Since everyone is affected by the shutdown, we felt it was appropriate to waive everyone’s fines from the December 22 start until the shutdown is over.”
The library would also like to make it known that this only includes fines for overdue books.
Fines associated with accounts in collections, and damaged or lost items will not be waived.
Public and Information Officer Patricia Spencer stated, “So in thinking about all the ways in which our community is being impacted by the government shutdown, otherwise known as furlough, we started thinking about what we can do to help alleviate some of the anxiety, the stress.”
The Library offers online resources provided to patrons 24-7 and library cards are free to everyone.
