MISSOULA – The Missoula International Airport reported another all-time high for passenger numbers from 2018.
That marks the fifth year in a row of record-breaking passenger traffic, up almost 10 percent from 2017.
The airport has seen an 85 percent increase in traffic since 2000. It recently relocated the security checkpoint, and is in the process of constructing a new terminal to keep up with growth.
The airport has six airlines offering nonstop flights to thirteen destinations in America, and Airport Director Chris Jensen said there are a number of different causes for the continued growth.
“We’re seeing that people are taking advantage of the new service that we have, whether it’s American Airlines in our market, or the expanded United and Delta offerings. I think it’s just a positive statement about air service in Missoula and in Montana in general and that people are wanting to come here.”
Jensen says that when the Department of Transportation is back up and running they will be able to release new prices for 2019.
