HELENA – The Lewis and Clark Humane Society (LCHS) has announced Kelsee Dalton Watts as their next Executive Director.
Dalton has a decade worth of experience in the nonprofit industry and has been with the shelter during some of its most difficult times, including the malamute animal cruelty case.
Current executive director Gina Wiest announced her retirement last November after 20 years with the organization.
Wiest said, “I am so very pleased to have Kelsee take over as Executive Director of LCHS. She has experience in animal welfare and fundraising. Kelsee will continue to be a positive force in moving LCHS forward in the coming years.”
Dalton says Wiest will be leaving the organization in a great place and hopes to continue to build upon their success.
“A lot of things I really want to focus on is just continuing to empower our staff and continuing to just put one foot in front of the other and build upon what [Wiest] has already done,” said Dalton, “We have made huge strides in the last 20 years and I plan on taking us even further in the next 20.”
LCHS Board President Pam Gosink says “I am absolutely thrilled that Kelsee is ready to take on the role of Executive Director! During the hiring process, it was clear to the Executive Committee that Kelsee’s experience in donor development, animal welfare, and nonprofit administration will allow her to continue the mission and vision of the shelter, and beyond. The Board and Staff have been extremely impressed with her fundraising and community outreach efforts and looks forward to working with her in her new role.”
Dalton will assume the position effective February 1, 2019 and currently serves as the shelter’s development and communications director.
