GREAT FALLS – Levi Sean Patten has been charged with felony theft in Great Falls.

Court documents state that a police officer initiated a traffic stop on Wednesday after determining that the vehicle Patten was driving had been stolen. A passenger in the vehicle told police that Patten had driven her from Havre to Great Falls and had been in possession of the vehicle for “a couple days.”

A probable cause affidavit states that Patten “continued to change how he taken ownership of the vehicle.”

According to the court documents, Patten was convicted of criminal endangerment in 2012; he reportedly violated his probation in 2015 when he was charged with criminal possession of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia.

The Montana Department of Corrections website states that Patten has two felony convictions for criminal endangerment, both in Hill County.

Prosecutors requested that bond for Patten be set at $7,500.
