A pledge to stop smoking is a popular New Year’s resolution. The Gallatin City-County Health Department wants to encourage anyone who has this goal in mind.
Health Promotions Specialist Heather Demorest says her department recommends the Quit Line, 1-800- QUIT-NOW. She says this one step increases a person’s chance of quitting by seven to ten times.
“We know if someone calls the Quit Line they get free counseling, free nicotine replacement therapy, and prescribed medication at a reduced cost. All of that has a great impact on helping you on your quit journey,” Demorest said.
