BOZEMAN – Not everyone gets the day off on Christmas.

Law enforcement, doctors, firefighters, and many other employees suit up for their job and work on a holiday like Christmas. Many of these employees work in case of an emergency but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t come without sacrifice.

“You know patients need care 24/7 and they are always here and so that is part of the job,” said Bozeman Health Nurse Terre Sturtevant. “Just like police or EMTs or paramedics that you have to be there for people when they need you.”

Often these professionals know they have to work so they treat Christmas as an entire season instead of one specific day.

“We get used to having to move our schedule around a little bit so,” said Bozeman Police Officer Rick Musson. “You may not be able to do it on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning. You may have to delay it a little bit but the officers are really good about making that work and you know it’s not just the officers but it is their wives, their families, their husbands, it is a whole family thing of being able to do that and make it work.”
