GREAT FALLS – Calvin Jay Osborne has been charged after he reportedly pointed a gun at a man in Great Falls on Tuesday.

Officers were called to the 3100 block of 9th Avenue North for reports of a disturbance around at 1:45 p.m.

The caller stated they did not know who the man – later identified as Osborne – was, and that he had a handgun outside, according to the GFPD.

Court documents state that Osborne knocked on the door of the residence, and when a man answered, he asked the man if a woman (“Jane Doe”) was inside, and the man replied he did not know anyone by that name.

At that point, according to the charging documents, Osborne reached into his hoodie pocket and pulled out a “black object resembling the grip of a handgun.” The man told police that he was sure it was a handgun.

Osborne then reportedly pointed the gun at the man and said, “Stop playing with my toys. Stop playing games.” Osborne then put the gun back into his pocket and rotated it, pointing it at the man.

The man then closed the door, and Osborne “walked backwards towards his own residence, keeping the handgun pointed at (the man) the entire time.” Osborne then went into his own residence.

Police arrived, and about two hours later, Osborne came out of the house and was arrested without incident.

Osborne told police that he did have a .22 firearm locked in his bedroom closet. Officers obtained a search warrant and found a safe in the closet; a search of the safe is pending the execution of another search warrant.

Court documents note that Osborne has arrests for theft, unlawful transactions with children, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, fleeing/eluding an officer, and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia.

Osborne has been charged with felony assault with a weapon. Prosecutors requested that bond for Osborne be set at $15,000.
