God’s Love holds annual Christmas meal

Posted

HELENA – For more than 30 years God’s Love Inc. has provided clothing, food and a temporary place to live for those in need within the Helena community.

Volunteers spent hours working on Christmas morning preparing the yearly holiday meal which consisted of Ham, Turkey, mashed potatoes, desert and more.

Staff estimated that they’ll serve anyone from 100 to 200 people on Christmas.

Volunteers MTN spoke with didn’t want recognition for their service and said they were just happy to help out those in need.

As of December 25, God’s Love is housing around 80 people in which Director David Miller says is well over the number of beds the shelter has.

Miller added a lot of their clients really depend on their services not just on Christmas but year-round and especially in the winter.

“It’s really important because a lot of our community are staying at the Walmart Parking lot. We all see them, we all know them, we pass by them everyday and this is an opportunity to make a difference in their lives,” said Miller.

Staff were also handing out socks, gloves and hats to those in need and delivered presents to the children who are currently staying in their family housing.

God’s Love would like to thank the community for all of their support over the year and wish everyone a merry Christmas.

If you’d like to volunteer at the shelter or make a donation you can either stop by in person at 533 N Last Chance Gulch or call 406-442-7000.
