GREAT FALLS – Firefighters across the country are handing out coats to kids in need this winter.
On Thursday, Great Falls firefighters participated in Operation Warm and gave kids coats at Head Start.
Through the Browning Kimball Foundation, they were able to receive a grant and purchase roughly 250 brand new coats.
Captain Colton Walter says they look forward to participating in Operation Warm every year.
“The kids are really appreciative. They are really happy. We get a good response out of it and we love doing it,” Walter said.
Operation Warm is not the only way firefighters are giving back this year. Through Paul’s Holiday Wish, firefighters will donate toys, clothes and food baskets to 16 local families.
