BILLINGS – There are plenty of Honda Odyssey minivans on the roads, but few of them are as special as the one that now belongs to Mady Sweten.

Sweten received the car as a Christmas present from Underinner Motors and the United Way of Yellowstone County on Thursday morning.

Sweten is a single mother of two young children, the youngest of which was diagnosed with meningitis at three months old and has spent a lot of his first year in and out of the hospital.

The medical bills have made it hard for Mady, who works 6 to 7 days a week as a registered nursing assistant, to secure reliable transit for her family.

Potential candidates for the giveaway were submitted to the United Way and a few final candidates were passed along to Underinner Motors whose employees made the final decision.

Sweten says the gift will change everything for her and her family.

“I’ll be able to spend more time with my kids, get to and from work, doctor’s appointments…it has changed my life in just one day,” said Sweten.

This is the seventh such vehicle that has been given away in partnership with Underinner motors and was paid for by Bill and Mary Underinner. The staff at Underinner Motors then all pitched in to make sure the car was good as new and to fill the trunk with Christmas gifts for Sweten and her children.
