GREAT FALLS – James Houston Parker was arrested Saturday after allegedly assaulting a woman and breaking her ribs.

According to the Great Falls Police Department, officers were called to 9th Street North and 3rd Avenue North for a welfare check around 2:30 p.m.

The GFPD said a woman was walking in the middle of traffic with an injured face while Parker was yelling from a porch.

Parker, 31 years old, allegedly refused to listen to officer’s commands and went inside the house, according to GFPD. He surrendered to police about an hour and a half later before a search warrant arrived.

Three other people inside the residence were charged for obstructing a peace officer; their names have not been released at this point.

Witnesses told GFPD that Parker had been arguing with the victim.

The victim was taken to a hospital with cuts to her face. She also had broken ribs, which punctured one of her lungs, causing the lung to collapse.

Parker has been charged with felony aggravated assault, partner/family member assault, and obstructing a peace officer.

He also had four outstanding arrest warrants.
