BILLINGS – U.S. Sen. Steve Daines will head overseas this weekend to visit troops from the Montana National Guard.

The Montana Republican will travel to the Middle East and Asia, bringing gifts from home including a good supply of Hi-Country beef jerky.

According to Deputy Communications Director Press Secretary Katie Schoettler, Daines will hold meetings with high-level government and military officials to discuss U.S. involvement in the Middle East and Asia and the evolving geopolitical situation. He will also make sure that service members have everything they need to keep America safe, she said.

In a statement, Daines said, “We must never forget we’re able to live free in America today, because of their sacrifices. It’s going to be an honor to spend some time with our brave service men and women during the holiday season.”

Daines sits on the U.S. Senate Defense Subcommittee on Appropriations.
