HELENA – Events are underway this week for the 31st Intermountain Festival of Trees at the Helena Civic Center.
This year’s theme is a Cowboy Christmas and the annual fundraiser features 23 trees and more that 70 wreaths and stockings that were all hand-decorated.
Since 1988 businesses and volunteers have been decorating trees for the event with all proceeds going to benefit Intermountain.
Around 1,200 children a day benefit from Intermountain programs which include psychological services, occupational therapy and school-based services.
Some impressive tree decorations this year range from a handmade barn to Skijoring themed tree.
Each tree comes with a plethora of items and gifts and they will be auctioned off on Friday November 30.
More than 500 volunteers worked to pull off the event this year and organizers say the Helena community’s generosity is always inspiring.
“From the designers that are putting their passion and heart into everything, to the sponsors who have helped make the event possible, to the volunteers that are willing to serve dinner to the little kids that put on trees and stockings upstairs. The involvement and the generosity of the community is just humbling,” Beth Wheeler, Senior Development Officer of Special Events for Intermountain.
Events run all week with an Evening in the Trees Thursday night and Family Days this Saturday and Sunday.
Tickets for all the events are still available and can be purchased at the door.

Tickets $25, 16 years & older event
- Jingle Bell Jam – December 1, 7:00 pm to Midnight

Tickets $25 at the door, 21 years & older event
- Family Days – December 1 & 2 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Tickets $5 or free with a new, unwrapped toy.
Kids 10 years and under free.
