GREAT FALLS-The Great Falls Police Protective Association (GFPPA) is kicking off fundraising efforts for its annual Shop with a Cop program.

According to a press release, Great Falls area residents and businesses have received a mailer seeking support for this program. The GFPPA will not be soliciting money via telephone.

The press release states:

The Shop With A Cop program has provided hundreds of underprivileged children with a wonderful Christmas gift…a holiday shopping spree with Great Falls police officers. The officers treat these deserving children, nominated by local agencies and schools, to a spirited day of shopping full of endless smiles and warm hearts. These interactions aid in fostering positive relationships as the children enjoy one-on-one time with uniformed officers in a non-threatening situation. Officers report, one of the greatest rewards is hearing from kids, years later, recall how much enjoyment they got out of their experience and what a positive impact the experience made on their life.

The GFPPA is a non-profit, charitable endeavor comprised of active duty sworn police officers of the Great Falls Police Department. The Association has no administrative or overhead costs and all proceeds from this fundraising effort go toward improving the lives of Great Falls’ youth.

Great Falls’ community members are encouraged to open their hearts and help the officers of the GFPPA help less fortunate children in the community by donating to the 2018 Shop with a Cop program.

Anyone interested in learning more about the program or donating, is encouraged to visit WWW.GFPPA.ORG.
