HELENA – With only a couple days to go before Thanksgiving, Christmas tree lots are already popping up in some places in the Capital City.

Greg Macker and his crew trucked in 1500 trees from Big Fork to an empty parking lot in Helena Tuesday morning.

Over the next few days, the seven-member crew will transform the lot into a festive space packed with Douglas fir, Blue spruces, pine trees and countless other varieties. Macker said the type of tree one selects largely depends on personal preference.

Macker, who’s been operating the tree lot for 33 years now, said the most important thing is to remember to water your tree frequently after purchase.

“They will drink a lot of water the first three, four days and then they’ll taper off,” Macker said.

A grand opening of the tree lot at the intersection of Tara Court and North Montana Avenue is scheduled for Friday.

Trees range in price anywhere from $20 up to $200 depending on the size.
