HELENA – MTN has learned more about the arrest of three people allegedly involved in a shooting and chase in Jefferson County on Tuesday.
The Idaho State Police identified the three people taken into custody on Wednesday and say a fourth individual has been arrested as part of the investigation.
ISP Investigations Lieutenant Clint Skinner told MTN they identified Kolby Schmidt, Shannon Marengo, and Michael Holloway, based on information provided by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office following the shooting and chase.
Idaho State Police detectives received information that Kolby David Schmidt and two other unidentified males were involved in the shooting and that they may be in the Blackfoot, Idaho area driving a blue Chrysler 300.
Further investigation led detectives to believe they had switched cars and were driving a grey Nissan Rogue with California license plates. The Nissan was located at the Fort Hall Casino in Bingham County, Idaho.
Lieutenant Skinner said during the arrest at the Fort Hall Tribal Casino near Blackfoot, Idaho police recovered four firearms, over $13,000 in cash, and a significant amount of drugs and paraphernalia.
Schmidt is being held in Idaho on charges of 2nd level trafficking heroin, unlawful possession of a firearm, and a felony warrant.
Marengo is also charged with trafficking heroin and a felony warrant.
Holloway was arrested for grand theft for possession of a stolen firearm and possession of methamphetamine.
Idaho state police say a fourth person was arrested, Angie Ahern-Krogstad, from California, was taken into custody following a search warrant that turned up meth and cocaine. Ahern-Krogstead was charged with possession of meth and possession of cocaine and was booked into the Bannock County Jail.
Schmidt, Marengo and Holloway are currently being held in the Bingham Co. Jail in Idaho.
Additional charges are pending in Montana.
