BILLINGS – If you went to MetraPark last summer, you were attending an award-winning fair.

The International Association of Fairs and Expositions will host its convention in San Antonio at the end of the month, and MontanaFair will be recognized for its excellence across a variety of categories.

MontanaFair will receive six first-place awards in the categories of:

Communication:
First place: Black and white Newspaper ad
First place: Commemorative Poster
First place: Promotional Event
Sponsorship:
First Place: Sponsorship Innovation (Montana 811)
First Place: First Time Sponsorship (Opportunity Farm by Opportunity Bank)
Agriculture:
First Place: New Exhibit Promoting Agriculture (Opportunity Farm)

MontanaFair is no stranger to winning awards but MetraPark Director of Marketing, Ray Massie, said every win is special and reinforces the hard work that goes into the fair each summer. He also noted that MontanaFair won a first place medal in a category that had never entered before.

“This was the first year we had entered in the agricultural type of competition and we won first place with opportunity farm by Opportunity Bank…That was right in the front of the fairgrounds, brand new for us and was first-time winner. We are very proud of that,” said Massie.

These will go along with 10 other secon-d and third-place nominations for a total of 16 awards.

MontanaFair falls into the Division 2 category with 100,000 to 250,000 attendees. This category is one of the most competitive with 119 fairs up for nomination.

The International Association of Fairs and Expositions is a not-for-profit corporation, which serves state, provincial, regional, and county agricultural fairs, and expositions. IAFE is one of the largest organizations representing fairs and festivals in the world with 1,100 members in North America, Australia and Great Britain.
