BOZEMAN – A Belgrade woman was arrested Tuesday after allegedly stealing an idling, state-owned vehicle from the Law and Justice Center in Bozeman.

Krista Michael, 41, appeared in Gallatin County Justice Court Wednesday on charges of felony theft. Her bail was set at $25,000.

According to court documents, around 10 a.m. on Tuesday a Youth Probation employee had started a 2004 Ford Taurus and walked inside the Law and Justice Center as it warmed up.

A detective inside the L&J reported seeing Michael check the doors of parked vehicles, enter the Taurus, and drive away from the L&J.

Michael was located in Belgrade around 5 p.m. and placed under arrest for theft of a motor vehicle.

Michael is currently on probation for criminal possession of dangerous drugs. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 7.
