GREAT FALLS – Malmstrom Air Force Base released the following information on Tuesday afternoon:

Colonel Aaron Guill, the 341st Security Forces Group commander, relieved Lieutenant Colonel Raymond Fortner, the 741st Missile Security Forces Squadron commander, of his position Nov. 13, 2018, at Malmstrom Air Force Base.

Fortner was relieved of command due to a loss of trust and confidence after a series of events demonstrated that Fortner established and maintained an unhealthy command climate.

Based on complaints to the 341st Missile Wing Inspector General and a preliminary inquiry, a commander-directed investigation was initiated and concluded that several of the complaints were substantiated by the evidence.

Fortner will be assigned to another position on Malmstrom Air Force Base until he is due to rotate to another duty location. The squadron will be commanded by Major Cody Elliott as the unit’s interim commander.

Fortner was responsible for training, organizing and equipping more than 250 security forces personnel assigned to the 741st MSFS.
