Pedestrian hit and killed by vehicle near Browning

A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle near Browning early Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred near Star School Road and Meadowlark Drive around 12:15 a.m., according to the Montana Highway Patrol.

The MHP said the vehicle was traveling south on Star School Road and the pedestrian was standing in the middle of the southbound lane when the car hit her.

The victim was then dragged or carried by the car before coming to a rest when the vehicle turned on to Meadowlark Drive.

The victim was a 38-year-old woman from Browning. Her name has not yet been released.

Alcohol, drugs, and speed are not suspected factors.
