UPDATE 2:00 P.M.: The White Sulphur Springs School District say a threat made against the school is no longer viable.

In a post to social media, the school district says individual responsible has been identified and law enforcement is investigating.

Law enforcement in Lewis and Clark and Meagher Counties are investigating.

The threat originated from Helena and law enforcement officers in Helena are working with the person responsible.

The Lewis and Clark Co. Attorney’s Office says a 15 year old juvenile was cited for misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

HELENA – Classes were cancelled in the White Sulphur Springs School District Monday due to a “social media threat,” according to a Facebook post by the school district.

The post, published in the early morning hours on Monday and confirmed by the Meagher County Sheriff’s Office page, said the closure is a “precaution to ensure the safety of our students and staff.”

There is no word on the nature of the threat or if classes will also be cancelled Tuesday.

MTN has reached out to the Meagher County Sheriff’s office for more information and will post updates as they become available.
