HELENA – A Lewis and Clark County Sheriff patrol car is out of commission after it was involved in a crash on Wednesday, October 17.

Around 2:30 p.m. the deputy vehicle was headed north on Benton Ave. when it hit a white passenger vehicle turning off Hauser Ave.

Helena Police investigated the crash and said the passenger vehicle was traveling the wrong way on a one way section of Hauser and failed to yield to traffic.

The sheriff’s office vehicle struck the rear passenger door of the other vehicle causing damage to both vehicles and disabling the patrol car.

The Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton said the vehicle will be out of commission until funds become available to repair the patrol car.

Dutton added he’s thankfully no one was injured during the collision.

The driver of the passenger vehicle was cited for driving the wrong way on a one way street.
