MISSOULA – It’s a scream.
The Missoula Haunted House has terrified and thrilled during the lead up to Halloween for the past six years. We took a tour with one of the designers to find out what firghts are in store this year.
“We always try and make it a real intense thing, this is definitely not for the light-hearted,” Production Manager Dustin Mennie said.
He says that some people process fear by laughing, “you’d think I’d be prepared for this but that’s not true at all.”
Other folks just scream. Mennie says you can catch your breath, but only for a second, “something a little calmer, a little sideshow — this is good.”
Mennie says they’re passionate about giving a good scare.
“We always like to challenge ourselves every year so that we can also make it interesting for us as well as deliver a new product to our customer base here in Missoula,” Mennie said.
He added that there’s a method to the madness, “there’s key elements to it, and it’s really all on one hand. Your ambiance, lighting, sound, actors.”
One piece of advice that our reporter has is not to go alone!
The house is located at the Missoula County Fairgrounds and all of the proceeds benefit Missoula Youth Homes. Click here for more information about the Missoula Haunted House.
