BOZEMAN – A poll stretching across 5 western states found that accessing public lands is a top priority for Montana.

Winning the West Campaign conducted the poll and calls itself a non-partisan organization. It says the poll results, released in July, are important for candidates to know so they can better serve their constituents.

“Public lands are really personal to people in the west,” said Executive Director of Winning the West Campaign Jen Rokala. “If you grew up here you have great memories of doing stuff with your family, whether its camping or hiking or hunting and you have people moving here because of the public lands.”

The poll also asked about thoughts on President Trump. It found reducing the size of national monuments and allowing oil and gas drilling near national parks is unpopular.
