BONNER – A Bonner middle school teacher has been named as the Montana Teacher of the Year.
State Superintendent Elsie Arntzen announced that middle school social studies teacher Dylan Huisken was the Montana Teacher of the Year during a Thursday school assembly.
“I am thrilled to appoint Bonner middle school social studies teacher Dylan Huisken as the 2019 Montana Teacher of the Year! Dylan has shared that his greatest passion is fostering a connection to history in his students,” Superintendent Arntzen said.
Superintendent Arntzen says Huisken’s greatest passion is fostering a connection to history in his students.
Huisken said he’s looking forward to talking to teachers across the US about Montana’s Indian Education for All program.
“I am tremendously honored to represent Montana on the national stage. I look forward to talking to other teachers across the U.S. about our passion for life-long learning and what Montana teachers do extremely well, like our ability to use relevant, place-based curricula across our vast state, especially with respect to our Indian Education for All program,” Dylan Huisken said Thursday.
He will now go on to represent Montana in the National Teacher of the Year competition.
