HELENA – A Helena pawn shop is damaged after a car crashed into the corner of the shop Thursday afternoon.

It happened at 2:30, at Modern Pawn North at the intersection of Helena Avenue and North Montana Avenue.

According to Helena Police, the driver of a red sedan was headed north on North Montana Avenue when they attempted to turn left.

That’s when they hit a truck parked in front of the pawn shop, ramming the truck into the shop.

That truck belonged to a store associate working inside at the time, Ernst Matscheko.

Matscheko says he’s shaken up from the crash. He was working in the center of the store, when he looked towards the window, saw the car was airborne, and coming towards the shop.

“Before I could even reason or figure out what happened, that car hit my F-150 parked out there, and shoved it, at least three feet, into the building’s wall,” said Matscheko.

He says they may have to close the store while the corner of the building is fixed, but he’s thankful the driver and passenger weren’t injured.

Police say no charges will be filed.
