Remembering Deputy Joe Dunn, killed in the line of duty Aug. 14th, 2014

GREAT FALLS- Tuesday marked the fourth anniversary of the death of Cascade County Sheriff’s Deputy Joe Dunn.

Dunn was killed in the line of duty around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2014.

The 33-year-old was struck by a vehicle being pursued by law enforcement on Highway 89 between Great Falls and Belt.

Dunn was a husband, father to two children, and also served in the U.S. Marines in Afghanistan.

A stretch of Interstate 15 between Great Falls and Ulm has been named in his honor.

His name is also on the wall of the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Dunn is remembered as a man who served his family, country, and residents of Cascade County.

The man who killed Dunn was convicted of deliberate homicide and is serving a life sentence without parole in the Montana State Prison.
