GREAT FALLS – Some opponents of President Donald Trump gathered Thursday, July 5 at the Montana ExpoPark in Great Falls, ahead of the president’s visit to Montana.

There was a protest area set aside outside the Four Seasons Arena for people who wanted to show their opposition during President Trump’s visit.

The protesters raising issues like their concern about what they call hateful rhetoric coming from the president.

There are also many people here supporting Senator Jon Tester for re-election. Probably about 200 people here, maybe more, at the height of the day.

The protesters outside the Four Seasons Arena sang the National Anthem and chanted “No hate in our state.”

Some of the Trump supporters who were not able to get inside the venue gathered to watch, as security officers kept a close watch on both sides to ensure the situation did not escalate.

Things have calmed down a little bit although a few minutes ago, as people who weren’t able to get into the rally were leaving, there were a couple of heated words exchanged between some of the protestors and some of the Trump supporters.

But overall, organizers say things have gone peacefully here today, and they’re relatively happy with how it all went down.
