BILLINGS – In 1978, a beer at at a hockey game in Billings cost 75 cents.
And for 40 years, part of the profits from beer sales at MetraPark have helped nonprofit groups.
The Breakfast Exchange Club celebrated its partnership with the Metra at the Rimrock Auto Arena on Friday.
Metra General Manager Bill Dutcher said the club has a good camaraderie with people attending games, concerts and other events.
The club members volunteer their time to work the beer stands at the Rimrock Auto Arena, the Expo Center and the Montana Pavilion.
“We have a servant’s heart,” said John Eastman, a Breakfast Exchange Club board member. “Bill and staff have a servant’s heart. Our key is we want to provide the best customer service and result. We have the opportunity to give back. How could you not enjoy that?”
“They just help out so many areas,” Dutcher said about the club. “Whether it’s abused children, whether it’s play ground equipment, they’re always thinking of serving other people. And to see that partnership and their priority to helping people has just been wonderful.”
Eastman said the Breakfast Exchange Club has given about $100,000 dollars annually to groups over the last five years.
Dutcher said the club has totaled millions of dollars of donations over 40 years.
