HELENA – The Helena School District and Rossiter Elementary School have found alternate locations for Rossiter students to attend class this week and next week.

Rossiter Elementary School is currently closed due to flooding in the Helena Valley. As of Tuesday afternoon, the school was not accessible.

School officials have announced that Rossiter students in kindergarten through 3rd grade will not have school for the rest of this week.

Rossiter 4th and 5th graders will be transported to Helena Middle School located at 1025 North Rodney Street for classes.

The 4th and 5th grade students will attend HMS on May 9, 10, and 11 and meals will be provided.

The details regarding bus pick up and drop off points will be sent to Rossiter parents later Tuesday afternoon.

The District has tentatively planned for all Rossiter students to begin classes on May 14 at Carroll College, however, details are still being determined. Food service will be provided for all students at Carroll.

School Aged Child Care (SACC) for Rossiter students will resume next Monday at Four Gs Elementary School, which is located at 555 West Custer Avenue.

The District will transport students from Carroll College to Four Gs at the end of the instructional day. Parents will also be able to pick up the students from SACC at Four Gs.

“We will be providing some alternative forms of transportation, we actually won’t be pick up kids individually but we will some staging sites to pick up students in the valley and bringing them over to Carroll College, and we do very much appreciate the patients that we are experiencing at this particular point”, said Superintendent Jack Copps.

Copps said Rossiter has about 120 4th and 5th graders combined.
