Fire Concerns Continue With Warm Air Sticking Around

Happy Labor Day! Summer really shined this entire weekend with warm temperatures and sunny skies. However fire season showed it's not finished either as existing fires grew and many smaller fires started and were put out by firefighters. The fire danger and the warmth are not going anywhere for the next few days. Continued warm and dry conditions will be met with wind again on Wednesday. A FIRE WEATHER WATCH has been issued for areas near the Continental Divide up through north central Montana for Wednesday afternoon and evening. The fire danger will remain high until Friday when a cool, wet system moves through with widespread thunderstorms and the possibility of heavy rain. Another chance of rain will come through on Sunday, and most of next week looks damp and cooler.
Hurricane Dorian has weakened somewhat but it still is battering the Bahamas and eastern Florida. The good news is the storm has slowed down and likely will not make direct landfall on Florida. Dorian is forecasted to begin a slow track north parallel to the Southeast coast. A landfall is possible later this week over the coastal Carolinas. Dorian could even clip New England later this weekend so we are not through with this historic storm.
