Female students at Flathead High School have access to free feminine products this year thanks to an organization called Gap Fillers Flathead.
Founding member Tammi Fisher says the idea came to her after finding out middle and high school aged girls couldn’t afford feminine products or weren’t bringing them to school out of shame.
Thanks to mostly private donations, free dispensers were installed in women’s bathrooms around the Flathead High School. Fisher says Gap Fillers wants to install free dispensers in all Flathead valley middle and high school bathrooms.
But she told MTN News that they still need the public’s help.
“Trying to raise the money for all of the schools. The total need is for about $76,000, but we’ve been able to accomplish filling Flathead High school," Fisher said. "We want to move onto Glacier [High School] next.”
