HELENA — A person getting their picture on a cereal box has been one way we’ve recognized the accomplishment of champions.

Children’s Miracle Network Champion Bella Nyman of Helena will be getting that same recognition.

Bella will soon be featured on Lucky Charms boxes across America for Costco’s 2020 Children’s Miracle Network fundraising campaign.

“It’s exciting, and a little surreal to think that my life is so drastically different than kind of what I thought it was going to be,” said Bella.

Bella is the first Children’s Miracle Network National Champion to be selected from Shodair Children’s Hospital, and the first to have a mental health disorder.

In second grade she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and separation anxiety.

Through treatment at Shodair, Bella has been able to effectively manage her mental health.

As a Children’s Miracle Network Champion, she’s used her new platform to be an avid voice for breaking the stigma around Mental Health.

“I’ve really just tried to make it a conversation,” said Bella. “You know that’s the biggest thing I have a hard time with is I feel a lot people don’t want to talk about mental health. It’s not really a big topic and it’s not really as large scale of a discussion as it should be, so I’m using this to try and to make it a bigger discussion.”

The Lucky Charms boxes with Bella will start appearing in Costco stores in the coming weeks.
