Thanks to the generous community of Alexander Temple Church of God in Christ, hundreds of families will receive a Thanksgiving basket full of food completely free.
For seven years, church members have been sharing both the giving and the holy spirit through Thanksgiving baskets.
Families are invited to stop by the church between 9 am and noon on Thursday, where they can receive all the ingredients needed to make a festive feast from the comfort of their home.
The basket will include green beans, dessert, and of course turkey.
Pastor Marcus Collins explained that this event allows disadvantaged families to experience a traditional Thanksgiving.
“Families can get a basket, go home, and prepare their dinner in their own home and have a comfortable meal with their families,” Collins said.
Collins explained why he feels called to help: "We just want to be a help in the community, and that’s what Christ was about, helping people. So if there’s some kind of way we can help somebody, then praise the Lord,” Collins said.
Collins recommends arriving a little before the event starts to ensure a basket, as food does run out. If you’d like to donate food or help out with the event, contact Alexander Temple Church or simply stop by and volunteer on Thursday morning.
The church is located at 3726 5th Avenue North; call 406.452.8820 for more information.
