HELENA — An adult-only acting class program at Grandstreet Theatre begins in February in Helena.
The classes will be held at the Grandstreet Theatre Studio, which is located at 328 N. Fuller Avenue.
Dee Smith III, a project manager at the theatre, writes that the classes are "a fun and playful way to learn about acting. This is a great chance to freshen up your skills, continue your education or start learning about acting."
There are four sessions of classes, which will take place on Tuesdays each month from 7:00-8:30 p.m.
Session one is Audition Techniques, from February 4-25. It will "prepare students to be ready to audition for a show at Grandstreet or anywhere", and will be taught by Teak Hoiness Shummer.
Session two is Acting, from March 3-24. "This fun and exciting class is for all levels. Build on to what you already know or brush up on skills you have forgotten. Beginner? That’s okay too. We hope you will also take the follow-up class which will involve performing." The class will be taught by Dee Smith.
Session three is Performance Project, from April 7-28. "Use your acting skills in a 10 minute performance piece. A small invited audience will enjoy your work at the end of the session" The class will be taught by Alan Zackheim.
Session four is Improvisation, from May 5-26, and will be taught by Kevin Casey.
Instructors are subject to change.
Sessions are $60 each, or you can take all four sessions of acting classes for $180.
