HELENA – Helena Family YMCA has a new CEO, effective Monday.

He’s David Oclander, who most recently served as Director of Global Social Impact at Starbucks.

He has also consulted various companies in areas of leadership, strategic planning and conflict resolution.

In addition, Oclander spent more than 20 years in the military, serving as Battalion Commander in Kandahar, Afghanistan and Brigade Chief of Staff in Baghdad, Iraq.

He says one of his final interviews for CEO coincided with the annual campaign kickoff breakfast and he was excited to see the community support for the Y.

“It was really clear that the community is very invested in seeing the YMCA succeed,” says Oclander, “and seeing the impact that the Y has optimized, and be as robust as possible.”

Oclander says the opportunity is also a good fit for his family since his wife is from Montana and has relatives in Helena.

His first day will be this Monday, the 29th.
