GREAT FALLS – Great Falls welcomed the first baby of 2019 at 10:23 this morning.

Grayson David Evans was born at Benefis Health System weighing seven pounds and one ounce and measuring 21 inches long.

As the first baby of the year, Grayson and his mother Raelene Evans received some special gifts from Benefis including a baby bathtub, toys, and diapers.

Evans said as a new mother, she’s happy for any help she can get.

She came into the hospital around 2 a.m. and thought someone else would have the first baby.

“I really didn’t think he was going to be the first one, but we knew that he was in the running,” Evans said. “Then I was pretty surprised actually because it was 10:23 this morning and I figured a baby would’ve came right after midnight, but I guess he was just ready to be the first.”

Both mother and baby are doing well.
