Helena’s Hands on Global celebrates Giving Tuesday

HELENA – Tuesday, November 27th, marks Giving Tuesday.

It’s a day set aside – following those recognized for shopping like Black Friday and Cyber Monday – to focus on giving to charitable organizations.

Here in Helena, one such organization looking for support is Hands On Global. It started back in 2015 by Valerie Hellermann to conduct worldwide service trips.

She and her volunteers have been to Zanskar in northern India to work on a hospital built by the Dalai Lama and to Moria, a refugee camp in Greece. Some of the group’s volunteers are now assessing the situation involving migrants on the southern U.S. border.

Hellermann says Giving Tuesday is a chance for people to give to a small, local organization working to make an impact across the globe and closer to home.

“Our volunteers pay for their flights to the country. And at least 90%, I know that at least 90% of our money goes to medical supplies and medicines,” says Hellermann. “And we welcome you to find out about us on our website and join us on a trip.”
